Private Schools

Private Schools most commonly refer to tuition-based educational programs offering schooling for children in grades Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade. These schools are not controlled by the State or local government and do not receive per pupil state funds but may be able to apply for the same grants as a typical public school or charter school.

Private schools are also not held to any residency requirements plaguing public schools, so they can accept students from anywhere. Private schools range in price from a few hundred dollars per year to up to $50,000 per academic year.  This type of school typically provides scholarships allowing them to waive a fixed amount of tuition.  These schools also use bonds and endowments to expand or acquire more land to grow their programs.
